Directv

Ok..so I have had Directv satellite since 2000...With my bill being $46 a month with "free premium channels" and a $20 discount..Wonderful...

So my bill comes in the mail today...$91!!!  OMG  I almost had a heart attack...So I call, and they say pretty much, there's nothing we can do for you...

So, I say.."Well, shut it off then"

They could care less...Well Netflix is $10 a month for unlimited DVD's and streaming via the web...

I have free HD channels anyway...So F them...I refuse to pay almost $100 a month to watch commercials... Especially with 'Hulu.com' and a zillion other streaming services...So many people are saying screw cable/satellite services...Now so am I!

Intel P4 3.2Ghz  Prescott

2GB 667Mhz RAM

256MB PNY Geforce 7900GS Video

6 USB and memory card readers...all working

Integrated audio

Infra Red & Remote control...Not working...

The RAM seems to stay at 33% used...Processor basically is idle...Never maxes out like with Vista & XP MCE...

a1340n HP PC modified

I also installed Windows 7 beta, Build 7000 on my laptop…,

Install was NOT as simple..on my Dell 1520…

t7100

256mb 8600m GT

3GB RAM

Integrated Sigmatel audio

Webcam

Bluetooth

Ok, it could not find the sound…Aero is disabled.. My video card drivers told me "No hardware is detected"

Usb WinTv HVR 950 cannot be installed,  said the same error message

Webcam non existant,  NO wireless g ..it was looking for wired vs wireless...

Going to work on this. Report the results when I have them...

Update:

Got everything working...However decided to go back to Vista Ultimate...With the hardware I use, and lack of drivers...Was just plain old LAZY...Didn't feel the need to make my own drivers for these items to work properly on a BETA OS...Also Vista did not recognise my web cam the first 3 uses either...

However, I, Queen Lazy refuse to live without a remote control for media center...

INTERNET EXPLORER 8

Now,  this needs work IE8 team…My entire WINDOWS 7 PC completely freezes up when 2 tabs are opened…UNACCEPTABLE, for when a browser crashes…IE7 for that matter seems to do the same, when it comes across code it does not know how to display correctly…Hence, the reason that I put Firefox on Win 7…

Windows 7 Beta…My thoughts

I have been using the new beta version of Windows 7 since Friday January 9 in VPC 2007 sp1,, downloaded from Technet, VIA Microsoft…In my opinion, it is stable…VERY STABLE…Not 1 BSOD or OS error…To me it is the same as Vista with a new taskbar…and less, a lot less of a resource hog… It installed completely in 12 minutes…the boot times are almost the same as Vista Ultimate..

I have it running fine on:

E6550 2.33 GHZ

1024 (800MHZ) MB RAM

256mb 8600 GT Video

Integrated audio

Media Center is exactly the same, with a few additions

Some programs I installed without a hint of trouble were:

ADOBE FLASH PLAYER

DIGSBY IM CLIENT

ADVIRA ANTIVIRUS…FREE

WINDOWS LIVE ESSENTIALS

MOZILLA FIREFOX 3

I think I like Vista Ultimate better…Resource hog and all…

I will post screenshots…

WOW Does DRM blow….

I recorded a movie, on my PC…Home Alone 2, from STARZ. Well, I did not care to use up 7GB of space on my HDD, so I planned to burn this to DVD or Ipod/Zune…Well, it is copy protected so I cannot!!  What the hell do they think I am going to do with it??  Pirate and sell it with the STARZ logo on it??  Frickin’ idiots, I say, Well, I am going to delete it!  I do not even want to watch it, also, I am going to cancel all my movie channels.  Who is home all the time to watch $90 worth of movies every month…  They have a terrible selection anyway…

My Cockatiel

I purchased a beautiful white Lutino Cockatiel from PETCO about 10 days ago...Yes, she was in perfect health..All was fine...But she was so WILD, especially for the $150 I spent for her, also she was 18 months old...The sign said hand tamed...I mean wild...  Way wilder than my 11 year old Parakeet...that passeed on last Sunday..Sadly, I returned her.   I do miss her...I named her Berri.

Ok,  enough about her and onto those total IDIOTS that work there...They could not answer 1 question I had...Totally unacceptable!

So, I went to another pet store...and decided on an ultra lovable Green Cheek Conure, that's 4 months old...  From a man who had all the answers to my questions on care, etc  Thank God not every company has idiots working there..Berri (2)

BEWARE of Dell's Repair People at Bantec

Yes, I freely admit I watch a ton of DVDs on my 6 month old Dell PC...Hence the reason why I purchased an additional DVD ROM drive built in my PC...Well the Samsung DVD Rom drive just gave out last Friday...No big deal as it's still under warranty.  So, I figured, why put one of my spare optical drives in, when Dell will replace it...Alright...Here comes the guy from Bantec to my door...an easy fix, right?  WRONG!  This guy changes out the faulty drive.... almost for a REEFURRBISHED!! drive.  I think not!!  So I go to get one of the many new drives I have laying around..and tell him to "Just put this in"  I knew that drive was brand new...A Tsst corp (Samsung) 20x Lightscribee SH-S203n...and am just keeping the 'refurbished' drive as a back up...

OK...As he's running out the door...The most horrendous thing happens...My PC gives the BSOD screen and just turns itself off!  So I hit the power button...NOTHING!  This guy had to have knocked one of the wires off inside and he did not snap the front of the encasing on correctly...I later discover...

I am actually on it now...it's working perfectly...THANKS TO MYSELF and not those idiots from Bantec...

The fix I tried was to troubleshoot the motherboard...which I suspected was the problem from the lack of symptoms and perfect power it was receiving......which it was...

After a quick reset of the MB my tin box is totally up and running with my new SH-S203n working perfectly...

My Beautiful Angelfish

Yes, I know I am biased, but IMHO I feel tthat my Angelfish is the most beautiful I have seen to date...She has true personality as she rushes to greet me everyday...

She is 7 iches long and 8 inches tall!  Purchased her when she was the size of a dime...Almost 5 years ago!

Aquariums

I have had my 55 gallon, Perfecto aquarium since 1991, which I purchased with the $1500 I won...It is my favorite thing in the world...

It's inhabitants have been an Oscar Cichlid, which lived for about 10 years of the 17 years I have had the aquarium...He was my buddy...and VERY SMART!!  He would jump through a hula hoop...also, he would hit a ping pong ball tto me, while I would be making dinner across the room...Never missed...all of a sudden...it would hit the back of my head when I was doing busy work. LOL When he passed on, I purchased  3 tiny... and I mean tiny Angelfish, 2 rare lavendar gouramis, a albino chocolate Pleco, 3 Giant Danios...ok..well it's 6 years later...Here's what's left...1 ultra mean 7in Angel, 2 G Danios, 1 Lavendar gouramis, & the pleco.  This giant Angelfish is a beast!  He ate his 2 pals  bones and all!!!  So, I figured I had to get meaner fish for him...

So now, his tankmates are a turquoise severum, and my newest addition, a baby blood parrot...hmm we will see the outcome of this...

UPDATE:
The severum nipped some fins of the Angelfish...and was immediately traded back to the Fish Store...I miss his bold demeanor...However the Angelfish was purchased first....

Pathetic Microsoft Lawsuit

My view on the "Vista Capable" class action lawsuit is this-

PEOPLE DID NOT DO THEIR OWN RESEARCH!  Also, they are trying to make some quick cash from a company that has made it's money from "WORKING"  These people are pathetic excuses for human beings, suing for their own stupidity!

Yes, I totally agree that Windows Vista is a resource hog, however, I have a PC from 2005, in my basement, which runs Vista Ultimate perfectly.

P 3.2 Processor (Prescott)

1 GB of 667 MHZ Ram

ATI  Onboard Video

DVD/CD/RW  ALSO  A DVD ROM

Purchased this at COMP USA for $600 w/tax and added :

Video Card, PNY NVIDIA GEFORCE 7900GS

more RAM, 1GB SO THE PC HAS A TOTAL OF 2GB

NOW THIS IS VISTA CAPABLE! I did my research...This PC was NOT INTENDED FOR VISTA WHAT SO EVER!

BOTTOM LINE:

QUIT BUYING THE CHEAPEST COMPUTER AND EXPECTING THE MOST FROM IT!

UPDATE:

While listening to a podcast "Windows Weekly" from TWIT TV...It seems to me that Microsoft employees even had this happen to them...hmmm...I'm thinking that they didn't do their research ether..This type of thinking implies that I should sue Chysler, for selling me a PT Cruiser, with a speedometer dial that reaches 140mph...We all know that NO stock PT Cruiser is going to achieve that speed...

Ebay Freaks...Read This..

Well here we are again surrounded by Insane, Idiotic People..

I placed a collectors book on Ebay for sale...

Madonna's "SEX" Book

It was clearly stated that it was in a worn condition...after all is is 15 years old...and only $29.99! When other sellers were selling it for $225 still sealed!!!

So this complete jackass (<key word here) her ebay name being Sour Apple Antiques (WHO IS A FRAUD ACCORDING TO ALL HER NEGATIVE FEEDBACK)bids repeatedly and wins it for $40.00...

Recieves it...Destroys it, Claims she BROKE the spiral binding...and recieved it WET!!!  Of course I insured the item, and told her to contact the post office over it! She continues to act like a fool over her $40, calls ME fraudulent, then demands her money back!!! AMAZING!

So to completely make my life easier, I give this fool her money back since this poverty stricken animal obviously needs it...I am not even mentioning the immature emails, ONE WITH HER PICTURE in it!!  Claiming how beautiful she is...complete with her giant goat teeth in full view!   Well, one day it just may come to bite her in the ass, when she tries it again , as I'm sure she will...with the WRONG person!  Good Luck in the future "Brandine"  I know you'll need it!

In the news...

I have some serious opinions here...

Firstly, I am tired of hearing about Rights for ILLEGAL ALIENS<---Be sure to note that phrase ! They do not deserve any. Period.  Why should they?  They are NOT citizens...They come here ILLEGALLY! Deport them! Problem solved, Tax money saved, No more ALIEN protesters filling up our News with this NONSENSE.

O.J. Simpson:
Are we not bored to tears with his entire scenerio?!  He was set up again...my ass...Who would go through the trouble for a washed up football/Naked Gun star...

Natalie Holloway:
WHY hasn't her case been solved yet? May she still be alive??  The more time ticks by...Evidence disappears...I'm thinking someone was paid off here ...This is a shame...

I will NEVER buy another Dell...

I have gone through many computers in my life...Mostly because something better that "I have to have" comes out...As I was flipping through junk mail one day...I noticed a Hot Pink notebook on the cover...hmmm...Later that evening it hit me when I saw a similar Dell commercial on TV.  I want this NOW!  So off I go to good old Dell.com to see what these babies had inside of them...As I drool over different configurations..I pick one and place my order...

Inspirion 1520
Vista Ultimate
You name it, this thing has it..

It comes about a month later...I set it up..and the webcam doesn't work...
The sound skips when I play MP3s...

What a total drag...So I call them..with my "Next Business Day, In-Home Service Warranty" Of course they are foreign and I cannot understand them and vice versa...

They eventually say we'll send someone out...

Ok great

The person comes 4 days later with a wrinkled piece of refurbished fabric integrated Creative webcam...I laugh and send him on his way...By that time,  I had fixed it myself...  I am a computer geek, I freely admit.

As for the sound problem, I ordered a X-Fi Xtreme Express card hoping that will do the job....

I absolutely REFUSE to have anything "refurbished" in my brand new notebook.

As for everything else, I love it...

As for my next purchase...I will definately stick with HP...Their systems last forever...Also, they do NOT use refurbished parts..and are there on the next business day.  A valuable lesson learned!

Update:

My X-Fi sound card came...I attempted an install..it would just not accept the drivers...hmmm...defective I'm thinking...so to get a second opinion...I call Dell tech support...and explain what I think...

Once again my standard phrase comes into effect...Those idiots could not close even an umbrella....Three hours go by while the man from India attempts to remote desktop my notebook...At the final point he suggests the card is defective....Why didn't I think of that!!  So he asks if I want a replacement...

I say NO Just credit me the $75...So UPS came today to pick it up...

I'm just dealing with the skip during the last 15 seconds of every song in WMP 11...

Itunes plays them perfectly..Problem solved ;-)

My Current Notebook Screen

This is currently on my notebook...

My Current Vista Desktop

This is a Dreamscene from Wincustomize.com ...It is my absolute love of the moment!  It changes according to the time of day...The grass sways in the breeze, and the stars twinkle ever so slightly at night.  It's actually very relaxing...If only I can come across some falling leaves and falling snowflakes...hmmm

Windows Vista Ultimate Made Easy

Well as of January 30 at 2 am.. I have been running Windows Vista Ultimate and I am in LOVE!   In my opinion, it is the best Windows to date...  It is very different than XP.

As far as what I have been reading on various web sites...most of you tech bloggers are uneducated! as far as Vista... I had ONE program,  photo editing software, an ancient one at that (PhotoImpact Pro  8.5) that was not compatible, in the respect that it could not save any work.  Otherwise, absolutely no issues what-so-ever with drivers.  Here is what my modest system is:

Pentium4 640 (P) HT 3.2 GHz

800 MHz front side bus

2 GB RAM

GeForce 7900GS video

An ANCIENT Fossil (from 3 computers ago...approx 7 years ) PC II TV Card which works beautifully with Vista I may add...I pretty much had to make my own drivers for this to work...However was prepared to purchase a new one if necessary...But was determined there...

I only used the upgrade from XP with no clean install. No issues no problems!  Those idiots at my local COMPUSA could not even close an umbrella...The techs there go on and on about the woes they have installing it, etc...  My advice to them is:

Do your research geeks!

The Life of a Junkie....

Heather (those of you who know me, know who this is...a previously overweight slobbenly girl who had a weightloss surgery and now looks like a sagging-skinned cancer patient) stopped to see me awhile back after her rehab appointment...I would say about 9:30am...Yes I am usually up early...and the key to this is that Jerry is USUALLY at work at this time...While she was visiting me...I had to run to the basement to get a dress out of the dryer...Let it be known that I am slow on steps...she knows this...

Meanwhile Jerry is in the corner of the bedroom, hidden from view from the door, quietly folding a mountain of towels...As I descend the steps...unbeknownst to me...Heather runs to my bedroom, straight to the jewelery box...Sees Jerry and is in shock to see him in there...Says a pathetic "Hi..." and goes back to the kitchen, pretending to read a magazine when I return...

Previously to this incident...I had gotten her a job, a GREAT job, working for a family member.  Mind you, we have been friends since 10th grade...good friends... or so I foolishly thought...  Anyway, the family member proceeds to fire her for stealing $3000 of business funds from her purse...attempts to warn me...Again I defend her and avoid the family member...

Then it is brought to my attention, that she forged a prescription in Alabama, while visiting her brother...and gets caught at it...court, probation, narcotic rehab, fined,  yada yada yada ...and has the nerve to ask me to go to "Family Day" at the rehab center...I just cannot support that...Rehab is a JOKE...When they complete their 'time', they're back on the street looking to steal, lie & use people to get more OC's & Heroin...

Shortly after, she proceeds to get fired from the 2 local police stations she dispatched for...one in which she was STEALING parket ticket money  ...WHO HAS THE NERVE TO DO THAT?! The other happened to find out about the Alabama incident...

Yes there's more...She stole 100's of cases of candy, not to mention money, from an office snack shop...gets fired...And the icing on the cake...is...now I do NOT have any actual fact to base this on...however, the word on the street is she got a job working for a DOCTOR off of route 65 or somewhere nearby...whatever!  and was calling in fake prescriptions...Needless to say she no longer works there...

Jerry & I happened upon her with another slobbenly girl at the store...Yes she hid behind a rack of cheap sunglasses...probably ashamed of herself because her now pathetic, drug-hazed life is now and has been for a long time in the toilet...one day someone just may flush it...

It's just a watch....or is it

I purchased the most beautiful Lucien Piccard watch you will ever lay your eyes on...All stainless steel, with tons of diamonds & the most perfect blue sapphires and even waterproof!...I wore this thing every minute since 2003, when it arrived at my door.  It showered with me, swam with me, went on numerous vacations with me, and has gotten about a zillion complements to date.  In fact, it is the watch of the Grammys &  also the Latin Grammys.  Well, my weekly ritual is to take this beauty to jeweler for cleaning...2 days ago the most terribly horrendous thing happened...IT FILLED WITH WATER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  A sick feeling came over me like none ever did...I rushed home to reread the lifetime warrenty info to find it does not cover water damaage...feeling even more sick I called the 1-800 number to find that they are completely repairing it for me for absolutely no charge!!  although it will take 6 weeks, I am so glad that there is still a reputable company left in our greedy world.  So if you're thinking of buying a quality watch with a lifetime warrenty...Look no further than Lucien Piccard!

Stupid Songs...

Flipping through the stations in the car...I came across "God Bless the American Housewife" by SheDaisy on the radio....WHAT RECORD COMPANY WOULD PUT OUT THIS GARBAGE??  I have all out completely lost faith in every music genre that there is.  But as for these idiotic female singers...If you can find me one that is actually good and talented, please let me know!  After hearing 10 seconds of this song I am almost embarrassed to be a female.  I can't be the only one that feels this way...
